FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - Cullman County sheriff's deputies seized six pounds of cocaine bound for Florence after a traffic stop on Interstate 65.

Last week, the Cullman County Sheriff's Department confiscated more than a $240,000 of cocaine during a traffic stop from a car driven by Lacretta Shippley. She was driving the six pounds of cocaine and delivering it in the Florence area. F

lorence authorities said it wasn't uncommon to see a large amount of drugs trafficked through the area because of its geography.

"Unfortunately where we're located here we are close to Memphis, Nashville, Birmingham and Atlanta, and this is definitely a transportation port for cocaine for the Southeast," said Florence Police Investigator Tim Glover.

Drug Task Force members said in 2005 they made another large cocaine bust and for two years watched the availability go way down, but about a year ago they started to see those numbers climb back up.
