H1N1 vaccine clinics to be held in Madison County

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Free H1N1 flu shot clinics are scheduled Thursday and Friday in Madison County.

On Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. till 4 p.m., Madison County Health Department staff will administer the vaccine at Asbury United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on 980 Hughes Road in Madison. The clinic is sponsored by Madison County Commissioner Faye Dyer.

On Friday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., staff will set up at the Monrovia Community Center at 254 Allen Drake Drive in Huntsville. The clinic is sponsored by Madison County Commissioner Dale Strong.

Clinics will also take place at the Madison County Health Department Community from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday.

All shots will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and clinics may close earlier if vaccine supplies are used.

Patients are asked to bring Medicaid and other insurance cards.

The H1N1 vaccine will be available to:

- pregnant women

- household and caregiver contacts of children younger than 6 months

- healthcare and emergency services personnel

- persons from 6 months through 24 years of age

- individuals aged 25 - 64 with medical conditions such as asthma, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, HIV and certain types of arthritis.
