Scottsboro officers arrest man accused of stealing $25K of property

Scottsboro, AL (WAFF) - There has been an arrest that solves a series of thefts in three different counties.

Scottsboro police say one man stole more than $25,000 worth of property. Each item is now being returned to it's owner.

Investigators believe 30-year-old Kenneth David Pool, Jr. was stealing the items from houses and vehicles just to turn around and sell it at local pawn shops.

Police recovered power tools, copper wiring, shot guns, and fishing tools. They even found unique items such as antique coins and even silver bars.

Each bar weighs about 10 pounds and is worth $1,800 a piece. Scottsboro Police Sgt. Scott Matthews says the items recovered is just the tip of the iceberg, and they expect to find much more. 

"The local pawn shops  do as they are supposed to do by logging, taking identification, checking out who brings in what," said Sgt. Matthews. "It is a huge help to us when identifying stolen property."

Matthews says Pool allegedly tried to sell the property to pawn shops in Madison, Marshall and Jackson Counties.

"We'll continue to recover all the stolen property, make sure there's not any other cases out there we may have missed, and then it just goes into the court system from there," explained Sgt. Matthews. 

Pool is facing a list of charges such as one count of third degree burglary, two counts of breaking and entering a vehicle, two counts of first degree theft, and one count of second degree theft.

Investigators say more charges are pending. They plan to return the property to it's owners as soon as possible.
