Burglary victim helps police recover stolen items

ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A vigilant victim helped Albertville police catch two suspects with stolen items at a pawn shop.

The burglary victim had been visiting pawn shops in search of jewelry taken in a burglary in Etowah County. The victim spotted two women in a pawn shop on Highway 431 with items that they knew to be stolen, police said in a news release.

Police arrived at the pawn shop and arrested Candice Nicole Wilborn, 23, and Carolyn Montez Clemons, 42.

The two women from Albertville are being charged with Receiving first-degree stolen property.

Several items were recovered, including a diamond ring valued at $12,000 and items that had been taken from several burglaries in the surrounding area, according to police.
