Today's Forecast

Today's Forecast Image

Today's quiet weather will be short-lived. A potent storm system moving in over the weekend will give us a shot of strong to severe thunderstorms along with heavy rain.

Clear skies this evening will give way to clouds later tonight. Temperatures will fall back into the low 60s. Skies will become partly cloudy Friday afternoon. For most of the area rain chances look slim, but north of the I-30 corridor a few storms are possible by evening. Anything that develops in this part of the ArkLaTex could be severe. Temperatures will warm up into the mid to upper 80s across the area.

Rain and storms chances will pick up area-wide of the weekend. A few scattered showers and storms are possible Saturday afternoon, but the main band of rain and storms won't arrive until later into the evening. Some storms could be severe Saturday evening and into the overnight hours. Temperatures will warm back into the mid 80s Saturday afternoon.

Rain and storms will continue into Sunday morning but should gradually taper off during the day. Total rainfall of 2-4 inches is possible with locally higher amounts, particularly around the I-30 corridor. Temperatures will be cooler Sunday afternoon with highs around 70.

Dry weather and sunshine return for the early part of next week with highs in the 70s and 80s.

Have a good night!

        Friday, April 21 2017 12:53 PM EDT2017-04-21 16:53:24 GMT
Tropical Storm Arlene is the first named storm of the 2017 Hurricane Season. Why rare? First, the hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th, So it's a bit early. And it's only the second storm to form this early since satellite tracking has existed. Arlene had, at her peak, estimated winds of 50 mph. It is now Post-Tropical and is over open water with no threat to land. It is expected to dissipate late Friday. Early tropical storm formation is not a...More >>

Potential for strong to severe storms to develop late in the day on Friday, as a cold front barrels towards the region. An 'enhanced' risk of severe weather encompasses an area north of I-30. The biggest threats will be large hail and damaging wind. The tornado threat is relatively low at this time, but an isolated tornado still cannot be ruled out. Storms will begin to develop during the early evening hours and push through the region overnight. Models are not in to...
