Music legend to be honored in Shoals

Sam Phillips was a music legend who called North Alabama home.

He'll be honored all this week in the Shoals.

The first annual Sam Phillips Music Celebration kicked off Monday.

The whole week will be dedicated to the father of rock n' roll whose influence on the music industry will never be forgotten.

Muscle Shoals is a major music industry.

One that Sam Phillips had a big part in.

A big time music producer from Florence, Phillips helped find faces like Elvis, B.B. King, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Many throughout the Shoals say they're grateful for the impact Phillips had on the industry.

Through Saturday, the Shoals community is remembering Phillips and his legacy.

This week, a city council proclamation, stamp commemoration of the official Sam Phillips cancellation stamp, historical marker dedication, and much more will honor the late Phillips.

Not to mention a performance by "The Killer"- Jerry Lee Lewis Saturday night.

Fans throughout the area say they're pumped to see this star, they grew up listening to.
