Alabama Opens Office of Homeland Security

Sept. 5 - The state of Alabama will now have it's own Homeland Security Office. Governor Siegelman announced Wednesday; the new Alabama Office of Homeland Security will officially open Thursday in Montgomery. It will also launch its official web site.

Siegelman says the office and web site will detect, prepare for, prevent and respond to terrorist activity in Alabama. Siegelman appointed General Mike Sumrall to serve as Alabama Director of Homeland Security.
