Tennessee Launches Alert System

Aug. 30 - Tennessee is debuting an e-mail system that could help find missing children. It's called Giles Alert.com.

The system uses e-mail and text messages on cell phones or pagers, to let people know if a child has been abducted or is missing. Rackley Systems Incorporated in Pulaski, Tennessee developed the software.

People can volunteer their e-mail address or cell phone numbers if they want to be notified. The system is stored in the 911 center can also be used to warn communities of other dangers such as a rash of burglaries, fugitives on the loose or severe weather dangers.
