Assistant principal arrested, charged with sodomy, sexual assault of student

An assistant principal has been arrested and charged with sex crimes after a student made accusations against him.

Thirty-six year-old Cleavon Eason is an assistant principal at Lee High School in Huntsville.   

Eason was in jail Thursday night waiting on a judge to set bond.  

Eason was arrested and charged Thursday afternoon with sodomy in the first degree and sexual assault in the first degree.

Investigators aren't discussing the specifics of this case at this time, only saying a student brought forth allegations on Monday. Investigators immediately arrested Eason after questioning Thursday.

They say they are also questioning other students at Lee High School and checking into other instances where Eason may have had inappropriate contact with students.

Eason has been the Assistant Principal at Lee High School for about ten years and some students and faculty say he had a good repoire with students, making this news quite a shock.  

"I'm surprised, but things happen. The student body will come to his side and come to a conclusion later on," said Chris Canon, a junior at Lee High School.

Canon also told WAFF 48 he didn't think many students knew about Eason's arrest as of Thursday night.  

School system officials say Eason was immediately place on administrative leave as soon as the allegations were made.

"He's on administrative leave through the investigation," said Keith Ward, a spokesman for Huntsville City Schools.  

WAFF 48 Investigators also spoke with the new Lee High School principal, Paul Parvin Thursday night. Parvin says the school is cooperating with authorities and waiting to see what the next step will be in the legal process.
