Neighbors talk about Bigley murder

A murder investigation in the Shoals continues.

Forty-seven-year-old Lesia Bigley is still in the Lauderdale County Jail charged with first degree murder.

Her bond set at $75,000.

The crime scene gruesome and confusing when considering all of the factors.

But what would drive a woman to allegedly kill her husband?

That's what many want to know.

Pam Butler lives along County Road 129, known as Bitter Branch Road.

Normally quiet, Monday, it was the center of a crime scene.

Suspicions began five o'clock that morning, when a couple noticed Edward Bigley's lights were on rather early.

Then... they saw his wife Lesia, coming out of the woods down the road walking toward her white Ford Escort, which had wrecked into the embankment.

Butler says, "Didn't know the car, never had saw the car and I did know that it had a Colbert County tag on it."

Butler drove past the car around three o'clock that afternoon.

Thirty minutes later, her friend noticed something strange.

"A lady was picking up stuff out of the ditch by the truck, the car was gone, and the truck was there then."

It was Edward's A & E Southern Services pest control truck... abandoned.

Glass shattered, clothes tossed into the road, blood inside.

It would lead a deputy down the road to his residence, where Edward was found, dead.

Butler says, "To find out that somebody in a small place like this had been murdered was really scary."

A swat team entered Lesia's Sheffield apartment early Tuesday morning and a .40 caliber handgun, was found along with her white Escort.

She was arrested and asked, are you responsible?

She stands by her innocence.

We're told the couple recently married in February and were both living at Edward's home in Lauderdale County, until recently when they ran into some marital problems.

Lesia had since moved into a Sheffield apartment.
