When Kelly McNa received a phone call at work of an emergency at home he didn't expect the worst.
"Going through mind everything on the way home, and I got about half way home and I was thinking, you know the pool, it was something with the pool," he says.
And that's when his worst fears came true.
"In a matter 15 minutes, of riding his bike, he ended up in the pool, my wife found him face down."
His two year old son, Declan, fell in and drowned in their very own backyard.
Now, a year later, a collage on the wall captures the radiance of young Declan.
Picture after picture shows his smile.
This year his birthday even falls on Father's Day life goes on for the McNa's and their two other children, but the pool in the backyard remains.
"We've tried to take steps that our kids aren't going to go in there, we've installed a pool alarm."
A pool alarm is just one safety measure the McNa's hope others take seriously.
McNa says he finds himself questioning other families, "Do you have a pool alarm, do you have a cover, do you have rules, do they understand...do they swim?"
Only to help his own heart, but he still looks back.
"We were trying to take the precautions and the steps to train them about the pool, but our mistake was we were comfortable with that."
And even on a bright and sunny day their pool serves as a reminder of that tragic day. The McNa's also hope their story will serve as a reminder for other families.
