Valley Fire Department Burns Down

Thursday night the Powell Fire Department was destroyed by fire.  Powell is northwest of Rainsville in DeKalb County.

The call came in around eight o'clock.  Nothing is left of the building and two fire trucks burned in the fire.  Several surrounding Fire Departments responded.

No word on what caused the fire.  Troy Lee Colvin, of the Powell Fire Department tells WAFF 48 News people living in the area don't need to worry.  Fire Departments near Powell will be there in case of an emergency.

The fire is especially hard on this department.  They are a Volunteer Department, relying heavily on donations.
