Coach Resigns for 'Personal Reasons'

Feb. 26 - Former softball assistant coach Jason Gasque resigned Tuesday afternoon amid allegations from female students. Allegations of inappropriate conversations with at least 5 of his softball players.

What school leaders did say is that Gasque resigned and said it was primarily for personal reasons. It's a situation that definitely has the small town of Leighton talking just not on-camera or on-the-record.

Gasque was in his first year as a school teacher at Colbert County High School also assigned to help coach the school's softball squad.

According to school Superintendent Billy Hudson, Gasque asked for a meeting Tuesday and decided to quit "immediately".

Leighton Athletic Director Steve Mask declined any comment except that most of the rumors he's heard about the resignation aren't true.

Others asked for on-camera comments, including students, declined as well leaving the situation a hot topic in a small town.
