GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Rescue crews in East Tennessee have rescued a hiker stranded on a ledge near Margarette Falls. WATE-TV reports he was rescued via helicopter this afternoon. Officials say the climber dressed in shorts and a T-shirt had been trapped on the 25-square-foot ledge since the day before.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Sleet is falling in Memphis and surrounding areas, and officials are warning residents of hazardous road conditions. There's also a chance of power outages caused by ice accumulation on electrical lines and trees. Meteorologist John Moore says as much as three-tenths of an inch of ice could accumulate on roads and highways.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A suburban Nashville couple found thousands of dollars in cash in their to-go order in a McDonald's drive-thru. WTVF-TV reports an employee mistakenly passed the store's bank deposit to Greg and Stacye Terry instead of their breakfast order Tuesday morning. The cash was quickly returned to the restaurant.
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - The Maryland Department of the Environment is seeking a $100,000 fine from truck stop operator Pilot Flying J for alleged water pollution from leaky underground fuel tanks near Hagerstown. The Knoxville, Tenn.-based company said Friday it disagrees with the allegations and hopes to reach a settlement.
