Two girlfriends, a mother and a UA-Huntsville vocal coach all gave input on the Huntsville Harmonic powerhouses in the competition.

For Committed, they have been put through the ringer with vocal and dance rehearsals the past few weeks.

Committed members: Maurice Staple (tenor 1, lead vocals), Alain "Tommy" Gervais
(tenor, lead vocals, beat box), Theron "Therry" Thomas Jr. (tenor 3, lead vocals), Robert "Robbie" Pressley, Jr. (tenor 4, lead vocals, beat box), Dennis "DJ" Baptiste Jr. (baritone), and Geston Pierre.

UA-Huntsville vocal teacher, Megan Poff gives insight about what it takes to sing in a group and make it work.

"Singing with other people means having a connection with everyone else around you. And honestly, to sing in an a cappella group, your ears are more import than your sound," said Poff.

She said that it starts with talent, but then that talent has to mesh with everyone else around you. On top of singing without music and being on national TV, choreography is added.

"I think that there is more of a challenge to be on the Sing Off than other shows because the musicianship quality is just very high," said Poff.

Poff is familiar with the show after her alma mater Lee University had the Voice of Lee on the Sing Off's first season.  She says Committed has an edge that makes them the best in her opinion.

Someone else who thinks the group is the best is Robert or "Robbie" Pressley's mother, Nanett Joiner Hiller.

She is her son's biggest fan and supports the entire crew whole heartedly. She says that Robbie has been singing since he was little and he gets his talent from both her parents.

"It's been so exciting! We are thrilled he is involved in a big project like this," exclaimed Hiller.

Samantha Scott is the girlfriend of DJ and Erica Gabriel is the girlfriend of Therry Thomas. They say each time they see their boyfriends on TV, it's a surreal experience.

Samantha said when she saw them on TV and started seeing the fans writing, it started becoming more real.

Both women are proud to see the group to have gone so far in the competition and represent Huntsville and Oakwood University so well.

These ladies say if the group wins or loses, they can't wait to see where the talented crew heads next.  Committed already has top hits on Itunes.

Now it's up those who cast votes to decide which group will head home with the prizes.
