HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The brother of a Madison County murder victim is reaching out to help others who may be in danger from potential stalkers.

Brian Morris has created a website to empower people against stalkers in memory of his sister, Tracy Lynn Morris.

Morris says Tracy was killed by a man who stalked her for two years prior to killing her.

Morris says Tracy didn't think much about the unwanted advances she'd gotten from Jason Sharp.

Morris says Sharp sent his sister flowers, notes, and candy, called and e-mailed her and would even stop by Tracy's house.

"He just felt like he was in love with her," Morris says. "And then January 2nd of '99, he decided he wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer."

On that date, police say Sharp brutally raped and murdered Tracy as she was leaving her home to go to work.

Sharp was convicted of the crime in 2006 and is now sitting on death row.

"I don't want anybody to have to go through what my family went through or have something bad happen to anybody else," Morris said.

Morris says Tracy likely had no idea what danger she was in, and that's why he has created the web site www.stopmystalker.com.

"It is my hope that people all around the country or around the world will eventually start to come to the website, just to learn how to stop their stalker, how to deal with it," he said.

Morris, who is a former police officer and now is a private investigator, says documentation of every instance of unwanted contact is extremely important.

Huntsville police Sgt. Mark Roberts agrees, saying filing police reports for every incident will help prove a case against your stalker in court.

"It's a series of events, it's not just one," Roberts said. "So what we always recommend if any person that feels threatened, that they make sure that they document the events that makes them feel threatened, every one of them."

Morris also wants people to share their stories on the website, in the hopes others can learn the warning signs and act before it's too late.

Morris is hoping to eventually work with a lawmaker to toughen stalking laws in Alabama.
