Help Alabama win 20,000 new books for children

Posted: Updated:

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- A local chapter of a national organization needs your votes to help get 20,000 books to children from low-income families.

It's called the Cheerios 100,000 Book Giveaway, and the 5 states with the most votes will get 20,000 books each.  It's a contest put on by the people of Cheerios cereal, First Book, and author Jon Scieszka, who's the former National Ambassador for Young People's Literature.

First Book of North Alabama will be holding a voting event Friday, July 30th.  It'll be at UAH's Salmon Library in the café from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Computers will be set up for people to come vote.

To vote from home, you can click here to participate in the challenge.  You'll be asked to answer trivia questions, and the more answers you get correct, the more votes you'll cast for Alabama.

The contest runs through August 31, 2010.
