LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Lauderdale County authorities arrested and charged Tony Woods with capital murder. He's accused of shooting is estranged wife, Tammie Woods, Tuesday night.
Authorities said after a domestic argument, Tammie took off in her car from his house.
Investigators said he then fired at least four shots at her car. Tammie crashed on County Road 2.
Authorities took Tony into custody Wednesday morning. They say he admitted to shooting at her.
A 911 call went out around 8:00 Tuesday night about a woman injured in an accident on Lauderdale County Road 2.
When Oakland and Waterloo volunteer firefighters arrived at the scene, they found Tammie in the car with several gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car was found about a half a mile from the Wood's home. The car was 25 feet from the roadway resting on some trees.
Deputies closed County Road 2 all night while they conducted an investigation. They were back at the scene Wednesday collecting more evidence.
