RUSSELLVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A Franklin County child's body was found in a hot car Sunday afternoon.

Franklin County Sheriff's Office said 4-year-old William Dylen Mahaffey died from head exposure.

They ruled out foul play and no charges were filed in the incident.

The child's body was found in a car at a home on County Road 144 near Russellville.

Officials said the call originally went out as a missing child.

William was playing hide-and-seek with neighborhood children when he apparently climbed in the vehicle.

When deputies got to the home, they found the boy in a car on a back floor board.

The child's body was transported to Huntsville for an autopsy.

The victim's family does not have insurance. Anyone wanting to contribute for funeral costs should contact the Franklin County Sheriff's Department.
