MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF)- Albertville police need help finding a woman who hasn't been seen in almost a week.

36-year old Tonya Turnmire was last seen leaving work Friday, June 4.

"I have no idea what could have happened to her. I really don't," said co-worker, Eva Battles.

Battles is a manager at Y-Mart where Tonya Michelle Turnmire has been working for approximately six months.

She is considered a good employee.

"Done a better job in that bakery than any girl I've ever had," said Battles.

A missing persons report was filed by family members last Saturday.

"Normally a couple of days they'll show up somewhere, normally back at home," said Albertville Police Sgt. Jamie Smith.

However, Turnmire has now been missing for five days along with her vehicle, a gold 1995 Honda Accord.

Albertville police are stepping up efforts to find her.

"You know, it's kind of raised a little more concern than the 'normal' missing person report," said Sgt. Smith.

Battles said she let Turnmire off work 30 minutes early last Friday because it seem she had something on her mind.

"Started going in and out the back door a lot, texting on her phone," said Battles.

When she failed to show up Saturday for work, Y-Mart called her and only got a text reply. "Saying sick, can't talk," said Battles.

Battles just hopes she's ok. "We haven't rehired anybody in her position, hoping she will come back," said Battles.

If you have any information on Turnmire's whereabouts, you are asked to contact the Albertville Police Department. You may contact the Albertville Police detectives at 256-891-8274.
