Huntsville Hospital announces Athletes of the Year

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Jamie Yates of Covenant Christian Academy and Jeremy Crutcher of Hazel Green High School received the 2009-2010 Athlete of the Year Scholarship Award, presented by Huntsville Hospital Sports Center, TOC Sports and D1 Sports Training. 

The Athlete of the Year awards were a culmination of a school-year long project, focused on recognizing many high school seniors for their outstanding efforts as student-athletes and in their community. 

As a member of her school's gymnastics team, Yates has earned multiple first, second and third place awards from numerous competitions throughout the entire country. Crutcher, a member of his school's basketball team, received Honorable Mention for Alabama's Mr. Basketball and was selected as an All Tournament Player in Madison County Area Basketball four of the last five years.

Throughout the school year, Huntsville Hospital Sports Center, TOC Sports and D1 Training recognize area student athletes that excel in their sport, maintain a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate leadership and community involvement. The recipients of the Athlete of the Year award are selected from this group of recognized student athletes based on their history of academic and athletic achievement.

Huntsville Hospital Sports Center in partnership with TOC Sports and D1 Sports Training provides comprehensive sports medicine services to student athletes at twenty area middle and high schools and to the athletes of Huntsville Havoc, Alabama Vipers, Alabama A&M University, Oakwood University as well as several local sports clubs.
