MIDFIELD, Ala. (AP) - Electronic bingo establishments can begin applying for operating licenses in the Jefferson County city of Midfield.
The Midfield City Council passed an electronic bingo ordinance Monday night.
The Birmingham News says operators and manufacturers will be charged monthly fees under the ordinance. The city will also require payment for a minimum of 500 machines before halls are allowed to open.
Midfield Mayor Gary Richardson said the city needs the additional revenue. The council passed a $3.8 million budget for 2010 at the meeting, but the budget leaves only about $25,000 between anticipated revenues and expenses.
