MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A new book about Alabama is showing up in public libraries across the state.
Gov. Bob Riley got the state to spend more than $113,000 to print 22,000 copies of "The Alabama Guide."
Riley's press secretary, Todd Stacy, said the governor got the idea from a book he saw in Tennessee a few years ago. "The Alabama Guide" is full of information about life in Alabama, including history, leisure, culture, natural resources and government.
Copies of the book have been distributed to schools, libraries, government offices and industrial recruitment agencies. The Huntsville Times reported that Riley took copies of the book on his industry-hunting trip to Germany in September.
