HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Christmas is the season of giving and though we're past this holiday, one non profit encourages you to give back.
This is the first year for the American Red Cross' nationwide holiday giving campaign, "Gifts that Save the Day."
It offers a lot of different ways to give, whether it's a blanket for a disaster victim, an immunization for a child overseas for measles, or a phone card or comfort kit for a soldier.
A Red Cross survey found people are trying their best to be generous.
Mary Moreillon, executive director of the Red Cross chapter in Madison County, explained, "We all know the economy is difficult and people are cutting back, but most donors indicated that they are going to try and keep their charitable giving at the same level or increase it this holiday, so this is the way to do both: donate and give a gift that saves the day."
The campaign runs until the end of this year. To learn more, visit http://american.redcross.org/site/PageServer?pagename=gen_store_main&s_src=RSS0900E005&s_sbsrc=RCO_GivetheGiftPage.
