Guntersville, AL (WAFF) - In the past six days the heart of the valley has been in a rollercoaster ride of weather.
Last Friday, we had snow. A nice dusting of snow covering many counties. On Tuesday, came the hard rain. 2-3 inches fell in Dekalb County alone.
Karen Smith lives in Dekalb County. Smith says, "The wind was blowing the rain so hard across the road. There were times i couldn't even see the road".
But by dawn the rain was gone,but revealing a new problem. Karen Smith lives off of floodedICounty Road 39 in Collinsville. Smith sayI with the hard rain brings headaches, road closures near her house due to flooding.
Smith says, "When the creek gets up it gets out like this as you can see behind me. It'll completely cover those. So i have to drive the long way around to get in".
County Road 39 in Collinsville along with County Road 386 were just a few roads closed due to the floods.
Strong winds in Dekalb County took a roof off of a local business. Its strong force bending a metal light post and leaving this centerblock danglinI from a 2 by 6.
WAFF 48s Storm Team Chief Meteorolgist Brad Travis says we're just getting started. Now across the heart of the valley comes cold temps. Brad says tonight is supposed to be the coldest night of the season.
