PELHAM, Ala. (AP) - Funeral arrangements have been set for a slain Pelham police officer.
Authorities say 33-year-old Philip Davis was shot during a traffic stop along Interstate 65 just before midnight Thursday.
The city of Pelham's Web site says services will be held for Davis on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Church at Brook Hills. Visitation and viewing are set for the same church on Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Birmingham News reports that 29-year-old Bart Wayne Johnson of Kimberly was being held without bond in the Shelby County Jail. He is charged with capital murder.
Davis is the first Pelham officer to die in the line of duty in the department's 45-year history.
Donations for his family can be made at any America's First Credit Union branch.
