Departure ceremony set for Huntsville guard unit

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A departure ceremony will be held Wednesday for a Huntsville-based National Guard Unit in the global war on terror.

Nearly 50 members of the 441st Ordnance Battalion is being called to provide support for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The departure ceremony will be held Wednesday, Dec. 2 at the Jaycee Building on Airport Road Southwest.

This is the second mobilization for the 441st.  Unit members previously served at military installations in the United States and in several foreign countries in 2003-2004.

The 441st joins more than 15,000 other Alabama Army and Air National Guard who have been mobilized since 2001.
