Armed robbery at a convenience store

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - People set all sorts of things on the check-out counter at a convenience store: a can of soda, a pack of crackers, a bag of candy.

But wait until you see what one guy laid on the counter at a convenience store recently in this week's WAFF 48 Crime Stoppers.

This happened at the Chevron Food Mart on Wall-Triana Highway in Madison November 9th.

On surveillance video, you can see a man lay a rather large handgun on the counter.

He then told the clerk to put the money in the bag, which she very calmly did.

And then he took off.

The folks who work at the Chevron tell me this guy appeared to be nervous.

He actually asked for a pack of cigars.

Instead of asking him for his I.D., the clerk asked for his birthday.

He answered, "1-28-88."

That might well be his real birthday, we're not sure.

When the clerk reached for the cigars, that's when the guy pulled out the gun.
