HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - An afternoon robbery at a convenience store has Madison County deputies on the lookout for a suspect, and they hope the public can help them make an arrest.
The store clerk at the Super Valu-Mini Mart in Harvest may not speak English very well, but she knew exactly what the man wanted. Ashley Jalali said, "He showed me a big gun and told me give me all your money." She said the hooded man walked into the store on Nick Davis Road and asked for cigarettes before pulling a gun on her. He ran away from the store with close to three hundred dollars but not before a witness saw his getaway and called deputies. Just moments after the robbery, everyone in the area was considered a possible suspect even Terence Ayers, who lives close by. He said he was handcuffed and taken to the store to be identified. "They put me in handcuffs, brought me down here so she could see if it was me who robbed her or not, but she knew me and knew it wasn't me," said Ayers. Now it's up to the public to help solve the crime. Even after being robbed, Ashley Jalali said she just feels bad for people who have to go to such lengths for money. "I feel sorry for him, I think he is not a bad man. I think he needed just money." If you have any information to help police solve this robbery call investigators at 256-722-7181.
