GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Tuesday was a day where people were dawning their red, white, and blue in support of our veterans.
In Guntersville, people across Marshall County gathered in front of the courthouse proudly waving flags for a special Veterans Day ceremony. The Marshall County Veterans of Foreign Wars honored veterans through song and inspirational speakers.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department's Honor Guard was also there to post the colors and present a 21-gun salute.
Rhonda McCoy said she is a strong supporter of veterans.
"It's a humbling thing to know that people love me enough and love my country enough to give their life to them," McCoy said.
Walt Dempster is a Vietnam veteran, and the Commander of VFW he said he's amazed by the community's support.
"I've never seen as many people so patriotic as I've had here and I've been all over this country," Dempster said.
Ending the ceremony, a wreath was laid at the Marshall County Veteran's Memorial.
