HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Technology is helping families with those involved in the military stay in touch via the World Wide Web. It allows soldiers contact with their family members back home.

"I am very proud to announce that my dad, Lt. Col Jason Crow, is in Iraq. He's been gone since June. We miss him very much," said daughter Rebecca Crow.

Crow's family keeps in touch as much as they can. Technology makes it possible for military families like them to communicate via the Internet.

Crow piped in his visit to his daughters Sariah and Rebecca by way of Skype on Tuesday. Both girls attend Endeavor Elementary School. Their classmates were there when Crow made a special announcement.

Crow will make it home just in time for Thanksgiving. He's stationed at Victory Base Complex on the west side of Baghdad. He's a communications officer by trade but he's working for Logistics Civil Augmentation Program as their plans officer.

Crow had a lot of questions to answer from his daughter's classmates.

"Do the Air Force deliver your food and supplies? What is military life like? What kind of communication things do you use?" were amongst the topics covered.

It was a lesson about the distance from Alabama to Iraq with some history thrown in, along with a special day for young students learning about the world of computers.

Crow had another reason to be happy about coming home early. His wife is expecting to give birth to another child.
