MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF)- Two big topics will be discussed Monday night at the Madison City Council meeting.
The first item is the new Hospital that is to built on Highway 72 in Madison between Wall Triana Highway and Balch road.
Earlier this year, Huntsville Hospital won the right to built it after engaging in a year-long legal battle with Crestwood.
The new hospital will be called Madison Hospital. It will be a 60-bed facility near the already-built Madison Medical park. Administrators said they hope to break ground on it soon and have it open in February 2012
At Monday's city council meeting, Huntsville Hospital CEO David Spillers will present an update on the hospital and final rendering of what it will look like.
Another item to be discussed is a proposed sales tax. The city council is considering the one-cent tax increased to help pay for a second high school. Monday is the first of many community forums to hear the public's opinion on the issue.
A vote on the proposed sales tax could come up before the end of the month.
The Madison City Council meeting is Monday night at 6 p.m. at city hall.
