Source: Fort Payne Police DepartmentPolice received complaints that a room at the Fort Payne Inn at 1828 Gault Ave N., had a meth lab in it.
Investigators knocked on the door and a suspect, William Ray Hamilton of Fort Payne came to window.
Police asked him to open the door when another suspect, Sarah Adrienne Barkley of Valley Head also came to the window.
When Barkley opened the door, officers detected a strong odor coming from the room.
The officers discovered the Hamilton had climbed out a bathroom window.
Sgt. Matt Wilson and Officer Josh Blalock were able to chase the suspect and take him into custody.
After a search warrant was issued, 23-year-old Barkley and 29-year-old Hamilton were arrested
Both were charged with Manufacture of Controlled Substance, Possession of Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia.
Hamilton was also charged with Third Degree Burglary after admitting to breaking into the maintenance building at the motel.
