Save PACT members to head to Montgomery for meeting

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - The Prepaid Alabama College Tuition board meeting is Wednesday afternoon, and a local Save PACT group is heading to Montgomery to show their support.

Members of the group Save PACT will be meeting at 8:00 a.m. off I-65 at the Decatur Priceville Exit 334 in the Mallard Village shopping center.

Earlier this year, several letters were sent out to PACT contract owners letting them know that the program was in financial trouble.

The PACT board meeting Wednesday will be the last meeting before the legislature reconvenes in January for regular session.

The PACT board is expected to talk about proposals members will present to legislators.

Patti Lambert with Save Alabama PACT along with other organizers want lawmakers to intervene and cover thousand of contracts that could be in jeopardy. Save PACT plans to hold their own meeting after the board's Wednesday.
