Jackson County firefighters accused of arson give guilty plea

Jackson County, AL (WAFF) - There are new developments about firefighters accused of setting fires in Jackson County.

Two volunteer firefighters and their friend were suspected of arson. Friday, they went before a judge entered a guilty plea.

Investigators say they the three suspects set a barn on fire on March 8th. The barn was located off County Road 7 in Jackson County. Luckily no one was hurt in the fire, but the barn was a total loss.

State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk says former Woodville volunteer firefighters, 24-year-old Travis Wallace and 26-year-old Casey Wilkerson were both sentenced to 8 years in prison.

26-year-old Edward Lee Childress, was found in Texas several days after the fire. Childress was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Along with prison time, each suspect was ordered to pay restitution to the barn owner.
