CLAYSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Two local businessman who wished to remain anonymous are each offering up to $5,000 apiece for any information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the killer of a Claysville car dealer.

It's been almost seven days since the body of Ricky Allen Moody, 58, was found at Motors and Cash Car Dealership in Claysville. Investigators said they believe Moody was slain between the hours of 7 a.m. and noon on Oct. 23.

Moody was from Sheffield, but owned several businesses in Marshall County. He stayed in Claysville on a part-time basis.

WAFF 48 News was told the Marshall County Major Crimes Unit is now involved in the case. The unit is made up of investigators from all cities in Marshall County, the District Attorney's office, Drug Enforcement Unit, FBI and ABI.

Marshall County Sheriff Scott Walls said it's been difficult to investigate Moody's death.

"We've had many officers working round the clock since Friday morning," Walls said. "The many, many tips that we're following up on are in state and out of state, it looks like it's going to be a lengthy investigation".

Walls said details of the murder are being withheld for a reason.

"In any murder case, the tips that we have the clues that we have are only known to us and the person that committed the crime," he said. "So it's very important that those details remain close to the chest."

As the investigation continues, deputies said they hope the new reward will influence more people to come forward.

"We want the family to know we won't close this case, it will never close," Walls said. "We'll continue to work on it."

Anyone with any information related to the slaying is asked to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office at (256) 582-2034.
