PULASKI, TN (WAFF) - The suspect arrested in connection with an arson that killed a Tennessee family had his first day in court.

Eighteen-year-old William Charles Angel, Jr. was arraigned Monday morning by video conference from the Giles County jail.

Meanwhile, police have yet to arrest or identify the second suspect in this case.

Giles County Judge John Damron told Angel he faces three counts of first degree murder and no bond at his arraignment.

Angel was arrested Friday night after an early morning fire on Milky Way Drive in Pulaski that killed 38-year-old Desere Thornton, and her two sons, 9-year-old Anthony and 16-year-old Jerrod.

Giles County Sheriff Kyle Helton said investigators are close to arresting a second suspect.

A TBI spokeswoman told WAFF 48 News that person is currently hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center's burn unit.

Pulaski Mayor Dan Speer said community members are anxious for the second arrest in the case.

"I have a lot of confidence in our sheriff's office and Kyle Helton, and what they can do to solve this crime and see that justice is done," Speer said.

Giles County School Director Tee Jackson said grief counselors were on hand Friday and Monday at Richland High School and Southside Elementary School where the boys were students.

A memorial service for the Thornton family is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at The Well Church of God on Kay Drive in Pulaski.

It is open to family and friends of the victims. Angel's preliminary hearing has been set for November 2nd at 1 p.m. at the Giles County Courthouse.
