
GADSDEN, AL (WAFF) - A Gadsden man was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.
Steven Richard Surdick, 39, was charged with not registering with the Community Notification Act. Investigator Chad Langdale said the charge is a Class C felony.
Surdick had been living at 309 North 6th Place in Gadsden for more than two weeks.
Attalla police officers detained Surdick after a traffic stop, where he told authorities he was registered sex offender in Escambia County, Florida. That department then contacted the sheriff's office for Surdick's failure to register as a sex offender in Etowah County.
Surdick is facing additional charges from the City of Gadsden and Escambia County, FL for failure to register with the Community Notification Act.
Surdick was being detained at the Etowah County Detention Center Friday afternoon.
