HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Huntsville police arrested one of their own officers Thursday.
A source inside the department told WAFF 48 News 35-year-old Jimmy Shane Hitt was arrested.
A search of the Madison County jail's website revealed that Hitt is charged with three counts of obtaining drugs by fraud and a charge of attempting possession of a controlled substance. The jail's website also showed that Hitt was booked at 8:30 Thursday morning.
After we got a tip on this story, we made multiple requests to the Huntsville Police Department for information, but our calls were not returned.
It's standard policy for the records department to release mugshots of inmates, but we were denied. We turned to Facebook, where a quick search revealed Hitt's H.P.D. head shot.
According to the Madison County jail's website, Jimmy Shane Hitt is being held on a 10,000 dollar bond.
