HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- A Huntsville attorney has announced his candidacy for Madison County Judgeship.
Alan Mann said he will run as a Republican for the new position, which was approved by the legislature.
It will appear on the ballot for the first time in 2010.
The new judgeship was created to help alleviate the backlog of cases in Madison County.
"It's more of a public service thing. When we added this judgeship we desperatly needed it. I felt like this was an opportunity to give back and serve in this role and help get cases moved from somebody who has seen things from both perspectives," said Alan Mann.
Mann has handled over 1000 criminal cases.
He's served as an assistant district attorney and defense lawyer.
