Shoes of brutal DeKalb Co. stabbing found by officers

DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - There's new information in the brutal murder of 24-year-old Kristi Wolf.

Investigators recovered new evidence near Douglas in Marshall County.

That's the same location investigators say 27-year-old John Cullom first hit Wolf over the head with a metal object, knocking her unconscious and then putting her in the trunk of the car.

Sources tell WAFF 48 News investigators found Kristi Wolf's shoes and a metal pipe, which they believe was used to knock Wolf unconscious.  

DeKalb County District Attorney Mike O'Dell says based on the investigation and the presentation to grand jury, the murder charge of John Cullom could be upgraded to capital murder due to the number of aggravated circumstances, leading up to the murder.

If the charges are upgraded, Cullom could face life without parole or the death penalty.

"Our goal is to represent the state of Alabama prosecution in criminal defendant, but throughout that process is the hope that we can speak on behalf of the victim," said O'Dell.

"The case remains under investigation we are working close with both authorities. He could face additional charges in Marshall County, depending on DeKalb County," said Marshall County District Attorney Steve Marshall.  

Investigators in both counties are still very limited on what they can say at this point.

The DA's office is waiting autopsy reports.
