Train and car collide in Colbert County; one killed

CHEROKEE, AL (WAFF) - One person was killed and at least one more was injured after a train and a car collided in Colbert County.

Cherokee Police Department, Colbert County Sheriff's Department, State Troopers and Colbert County EMA were on the scene on Lime Kiln Road off Highway 72. The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m.

WAFF 48 News was told by investigators that Shandra Lomenick, 35 years old, from Iuka, Mississippi, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another patient, Glen Brown, also from Iuka, was flown by AirEvac to Huntsville Hospital.

Brown was in serious condition as of Tuesday night.
