LAWRENCE COUNTY, TN (WAFF) - Last year WAFF 48 News told you about a man who returned home from his vacation to find about a dozen of his farm animals slaughtered.
It happened in Five Points in Lawrence County, Tennessee.
Investigators at this point say they have some good information, but nothing to lead to an arrest at this time.
That's little comfort for a farmer whose livelihood depends on the livestock he raises.
"Come here girl, come here baby," said Paul Davis as he stroked the snouts of his horses.
Davis does his routine check-ups on the seven horses he has left on his Five Points horse farm.
Just last year, these horses were the only survivors of a tragic crime that claimed the lives of 12 of his animals.
"I couldn't find all of them and I started riding way back on the backside of the property, and all of sudden here they come running up and I was relieved, but I knew that they were damaged, health wise.
It was a disastrous fate for the others. There were nearly a dozen animal corpses hidden near rows of corn.
A ghastly reflection of what happened that summer night last June.
"I think about it everyday, every time I come through this gate here," Davis said. "It's been a sad year it really has simply because nobody has been arrested."
WAFF 48 went to the Lawrence County, Tennessee Sheriff's Department.
The investigator in charge was not available in person, but we did contact him by phone.
He said they have two persons of interest, and the evidence investigators have can't be disclosed, but it's based on testimony and circumstance.
Davis found 5 of his 12 animals systematically slaughtered on his 300 acre horse farm; lives lost and pain that still lingers.
Pain that Davis said won't be eased until whoever's responsible is caught and held accountable.
Whoever committed this crime could face charges of aggravated animal cruelty. If you have any information contact the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department in Tennessee at 931-762-3626.
