JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Two volunteer firefighters are behind bars facing charges of arson, and officers are looking for a third suspect.
Investigators say the three men started a fire in Woodville in Jackson County, then the volunteer firefighters responded to the call to put the fire out.
All three suspects were indicted by a grand jury.
The state fire marshal's office found evidence from the fire that it was intentionally set, but officers need your help in locating the third suspect.
A barn located off County Road 7 in Jackson County, caught fire on March 8th.
No one was hurt in the fire.
The state fire Marshal's office sifted through the debris and found evidence that this fire was set intentionally.
That evidence was brought in front of a grand jury, and three suspects were indicted on arson charges.
24-year-old Travis Edward Wallace from Woodville and 23-year-old Casey Duane Wilkinson from Scottsboro were both firefighters with the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department.
Jackson County Sheriff's deputies are still looking for the third suspect, 26-year-old Edward Lee Childress, who's not a volunteer firefighter.
"All three of them are facing arson second charges involving the burning of a barn. The house that was burned nearby is also still under investigation, we're hoping to make an arrest in that one soon," said Jackson County's Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips.
The state fire marshal office could not comment on why these suspects started the fire, but a source close to the case says the volunteer firemen said they were bored.
The state fire marshal's office told WAFF 48 News they are just happy that the evidence led to identifying suspects.
"It's one of those cases that the investigation came up with evidence that would lead to a conclusion in the investigation. We're just glad we could identify the suspects. And two of the three have been identified and arrested," said State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk.
Childress is believed to be somewhere in the Athens/Decatur area.
