MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF)- It's been seven months since Harry Ricks was shot and killed during a home invasion.
Thursday, he was remembered with a candlelight vigil at Mount Home Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton.
June 25th not only marked seven months of an unsolved murder, but it also would have been the 21st anniversary of Rita Ricks and her late husband Harry's wedding.
What should have been a day to celebrate life together-- now a day of remembering a life lost.
Just like any other home on Gate 6 Road sits house 1215-- home to the Ricks family.
Just 7 months ago, it was draped in yellow crime scene tape.
"You never expect someone to enter your home, you never expect someone to take from you," said widow Rita Ricks.
"It was probably no more than 20 minutes or less they were in my home and took my husband's life, and it seems like an eternity."
Rita's husband Harry Ricks, Senior was murdered in November of last year.
Three unidentified men entered their home; bound Harry, his wife and daughter, and shot and killed him.
A nightmare that Rita Ricks said she lives with everyday.
"Life altering," she described it.
"Our daily life we have changed, nothing is the same anymore."
A similar sentiment for daughter Shamequia, who said reality still hasn't sunk in.
"Ii know that he's in a better place and he's not here and that we all have to stay here and deal with everything," she said tearfully.
And as Rita and her daughter light yet another series of candles for a man who was a father, son and husband.
They said closure will soothe the pain that lingers in their hearts.
"We need this to be able to pick up with our lives and move on, and we're at a stand still," Ricks said.
The governor's office is offering a $5000 dollar reward for any information on the three unidentified men involved in Harry Ricks' death.
