DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Decatur police have filed new charges against a convicted sex offender.
Terrius Dortez Strain was arrested Monday for failure to register as a sex offender in his jurisdiction. He was convicted of second degree sexual abuse in 2004 and is required to tell officers whenever he moves.
Police investigators found he'd moved too close to Austin High School, and children who are not his were living in the same home. The new charges are for living in a prohibited residence.
