Police find alleged meth lab inside burning house

Posted: Updated:

HENAGER, AL (WAFF) -- A DeKalb County fire investigation turned into a drug bust on Monday.

It happened around 11 a.m. on Lakeview Drive in Henagar. Officers said shortly after they arrived, they saw smoke coming from the mobile home.

A female jumped from the window as firefighters made their way inside. Officers said they later found Javier Munoz hiding in a closet. They also found remains of a meth lab.

Paramedics treated Munoz for smoke inhalation. Then drug agents arrested him and charged him with manufacturing of a controlled substance.

Officers also found two dogs in the home and took them to the DeKalb County animal shelter.
