DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - The defense is winding down its case in the Daniel Wade Moore murder trial.

Monday juorors heard testimony from a very important witness, whose name has come up again and again.

Mike Ezell is a musician and childhood friend of the David Tipton, who, with his wife, use to go to the Tiptons house for dinner, music and more.

The defense has pointed an accusatory finger in Ezells direction since the trial began.

Ezell was called by the defense team and questioned by Sherman Powell.

Courtroom analyst and attorney Scott Anderson says his testimony could be viewed as a double edged sword.

"He seemed a little lackadaisical on defense. He just did not answer their questions with maybes. I don't know. They brought up some things with him that could have raised a reasonable doubt in that jury's mind," said Anderson.

Ezell also testified that he was fishing during the afternoon that Karen Tipton was killed. Earlier testimomy by police backs up this testimony.  He was cross examined by Cory Maze.

Anderson says Ezell's testimony was more open to the prosecution.

"He also on cross by the prosecution got to deny the fact that he did not commit this murder," said Anderson.

A few more witnesses are expected Tuesday.

The jury will probably get this trial this week and how long they will spend on deliberations is anyone's guess.
