Body found near Buck’s Pocket identified as teen who was swept away in floodwaters

MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Authorities confirm the body found near Bucks Pocket Tuesday night is 18-year-old Koy Jacob Spears.

His body was found in South Sauty Creek just downstream from Buck’s Pocket Tuesday evening. Authorities confirm four fishermen were in a boat near the Morgens Cove boat ramp off Highway 227 when they found the body in the water.

The body was taken to Huntsville for processing and identification.

Troopers said this area is in Marshall County, but it is falling under the DeKalb County coroner’s jurisdiction.

Spears was swept away in floodwaters near this area last month.

Authorities later found the vehicle they believe he was in.
