Colbert County man accused of drugging teen, selling her for drugs

COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A Colbert County man is behind bars after allegedly trading a 17-year-old girl to a man for sex in exchange for drugs.

Bobby Joe Speegle, 42, was arrested in December on charges of human trafficking and filing a false police report.

The criminal complaint alleges that the incident happened in November. Speegle allegedly drugged the teen with soda, and she passed out. Investigators say she woke up the next morning half-dressed at an adult male’s house while he was sexually assaulting her. He allegedly continued even after she yelled for him to stop and that she was in pain.

The victim allegedly tried to contact help through Facebook on the male’s phone, but he took it away from her.

The man admitted to her that Speegle had traded her for drugs, according to the complaint.

The teen was able to get out of the home. She later got medical treatment for the sexual assault.

Detectives interviewed Speegle, and later arrested him. He remains in the Colbert County Jail.

Charges against the man accused of sexually assaulting the teen are pending.
